Top Picks for Where to Eat in Cornwall

Writer's picture: Fiona QuarmbyFiona Quarmby

If you plan to take a trip to Cornwall then these are my must-try places to eat! From Falmouth burgers to St Ives breakfasts, here are my top picks for a tasty bite.

Scoff Troff, St Ives

Serving delicious breakfast, brunch & lunch and open in the Summer for Pizza in the evening! I visited in December and it was empty but if you’re going in peak season I would definitely recommend booking a table.

We had the Vegetarian Breakfast which was delicious and the Full English Breakfast.

Slice of Cornwall, Falmouth

I could not recommend this place enough! We passed it when driving back from Gweek Seal Sanctuary and made a note to check them out online and decided we had to go once we did.

It is located just outside Falmouth on the side of the road out and is a hidden gem! The café itself is very modern and green full of plants (which I love) and the food is unreal.

We had the Hueavos Rancheros and the Coronation Rosti Baya (stone baked flat sourdough bread), both were absolutely delicious and, although I was so full I could have eaten it all over again.

Price - ££

The Tap House, St Agnes

This Hawaiian style restaurant and bar is located in the small town of St Agnes and is something seriously special. With loads of plants, surf and beer brand décor you feel like you’ve just stepped off the plan and onto the beach in Honolulu. We have visted here three time now so I have added my meal choice.

Start with the Vegetable Gyozas (they’re so tasty) and the Padron Peppers which are very moreish. My favorite main course is by far the Tofu Poke Bowl.

Price - ££- £££

Boo Koos, Falmouth

An American inspired diner in the center of Falmouth serving burgers, hot dogs, man’n’cheese, fries, shakes and so many beers. The décor is so interesting with wheel alloys from all American cars, loads of vintage American signs, wooden booths and plants hanging from the ceiling.

There was a great selection of Vegetarian options which won me over straight away. We had the Sweet Butternut and Chickpea Burger, Squealer & Cheese Burger (extra mushrooms), a Side of fries, a side of Mac’n’Cheese (which was heaven in a bowl) and we shared an Oreo Cookie Bash Pie for dessert.

Price - £ - ££ (we thought it was priced really well for all the food we had!)

The Miners Arms, St Agnes

Another great spot we drove past and noted down to visit later. This place is super small but super popular, it’s the epitome of a quaint Cornish pub. We were here in summer and didn’t book so we did have to wait a while for a table, I would recommend advance booking everywhere in Cornwall at peak times!

We had the Beer Battered Catch of the Day served with thick chips & mushy peas and the Miners Double Burger served with fries. Both dishes were excellent and the atmosphere and service was really good. It was fairly expensive compared to other places we have been but good quality.

Price - ££ - £££

The Stable, Fistral Beach

Pizza heaven. A unique menu sits alongside the classics like Peperoni, Hawaiian & Margarita and the restaurant sits above Fistral Beach offering spectacular views. They also do a great selection of ales, ciders and lagers, many brewed locally in Cornwall.

There are loads of Vegetarian options so it suits all. I have tried the Mushroom Magic, the Cheesy Garlic Bread and the Veggie Mary the two times I have visited and all have been delicious. I would also recommend a Big Wednesday IPA to accompany your pizza.

Price - £ - ££

The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay

Another restaurant with an incredible beach view, this time across the stunning Watergate Bay. This fantastic restaurant combines a classic favourites with a 50% plant-based menu for as they say a ‘healthier take on post-surf refuel’.

We had the Beyond Meat Burger served with fries and the Extreme Beef Burger served with fries. We also got a side of mac’n’cheese and as soon as we took one bite asked the waiter for another portion, it was THAT good (can you tell we’re obsessed with mac’n’cheese yet?).

This restaurant has a really great sustainability initiative which you can read more about on their website https://www.watergatebay.co.uk/eat/the-beach-hut/

Price - £££ (but worth it, I would recommend this place for a fancy date night)
